Our Mentor:

Our mentor was Rose Phan. She is my neighbor who lives upstairs from me. Ms. Phan was born in Vietnam, and she immigrated to America when she was around 20 years old. She has lived in California for over 15 years, but in the few recent years, she moved to Massachusetts and rented the upstairs of my house two years ago. When she was in California, she worked in a Vietnamese cafe, and she mainly made the Vietnamese desserts and pastries. When she came to Massachusetts, she took a few classes on cake baking and decorating and became a very skilled baker. She now works in a company that makes desserts for large supermarkets. She usually makes the brownies or decorates the different desserts with frosting. During her free time, she enjoys making different desserts. Whenever she makes something new, she would always bring some down for me, and it always tasted good. She is a very skilled baker that spends a lot of her day making desserts and pastries.
