POUND CAKE

This week we also baked pound cake. This cake was simple but took a long time to bake.  It was a dense and moist cake that looked like a loaf of bread. It was semi sweet and buttery. It tasted really good!

POSTRE CHAJÁ

Today we made a dessert from Uruguay. We made a peach meringue cake called Postre Chajá. It is made up of two layers of angel food cake, soaked in peach syrup, with frosting, peach slices, and crushed meringue pieces in between the two layers. It was really time consuming to make because of the many processes, but it was not really difficult.

EGG TARTS

This time we made egg tarts. They are traditional Chinese tarts. The tart itself had to be molded and shaped first then the egg mixture had to be poured it. Later after its all done, I baked it in the oven. The egg mixture was easier to make but all in all it turned out great.

CUPCAKES

Last week we made chocolate cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. This is a typical American dessert. This cupcakes turned out well as it is familiar to the both of us but it was my first time making it from scratch. The frosting was a little hard to put and and make it look professional but overall I think it turned out great!

Next Time

We did not make anything this week, but we decided on some things to make next. We are going to try to make Bienestich, a German cake, and Budapestbakelse, a Swedish cake roll. We also plan to attempt to make macarons again when we meet up as it did not turn out as good as we hoped for it to be.

PANDAN CAKES

We made PANDAN CAKES! These cakes are mini cakes of Asian culture. These turned out around what was expected. The results were better than the macaroons. They tasted really good, it was sweet and the pandan balanced well with the cream. It was very fun to make.

Until Next Time...

Because it snowed today we didn't get to make anything. HOWEVER we decided that this week we are going to make two things.  We will be trying to make pandan cakes (asian) and flan (mexican). Hopefully they will turn out better than the macarons.

MACARONS!!!

This week we made.....MACARONS. After making I wondered why we chose something to hard as our first start from scratch pastry. The answer? We were stupid and craved macarons. Anyways, the process was actually pretty simple but very time consuming. Needless to say we fail. The cookie things turned out okay but were a bit cracked and the cream itself did not turn out good. The texture was not right and the overall look looked off. In the end we made some macarons and ate the rest as cookies, which is also great because I love cookies! Below are some pictures of the outcomes. They were vanilla flavored.
Final product.
The cookie tops and bottoms of the maracons.

Going French

Nhi and I decided that this week we will make MACAROONS! ♡ We looked at a couple different recipes and decided we will probably make two different flavors. I am not 100% sure what the flavors are going to be but it's very likely that is vanilla and raspberry.

Two is Better Than One

This week on the 15th I made my 20 time project pitch poster and I presented it on Friday, the 16th in class. I also found out that I was doing a project similar to one of my friends, we both wanted to bake pastries from different countries around the world. We decided to work together for this project because two is better than one.
